We are not totally there yet as Summer vacations have hindered our progress but I think the space has vastly improved with the new furniture, shelf decor, pillows and artwork. We still need to add the fig tree in the corner of the room and the ferns on either side of the fireplace as well as hang the white frames with the black & white family photos above the console table and some more books and decor for the shelves. Maureen wanted to still keep a relaxed feel to her family room and have inexpensive furniture that was durable and childproof since she has three young children. We re-decorated this room on a budget of about $3,000.00 including all of the new furniture, curtains, shelf decor, lamps, pillows, and art work. Have a look at some of the pics.

White frames we bought still need to be hung over the chairs and console table with black and white family photos which I think will look so great and fill up this space nicely. We also need to find a lamp for this table and put the fig tree in the corner. 

Now we are on to the kitchen! I just started sanding and priming the kitchen chairs today but we did pick out the fabric that I am going to recover the chairs with.
